My own health problems began with I was 2 years old. I remember grasping a patio umbrella while gleefully running in circles atop a neighbor's concrete picnic table. I recall stumbling over my clumsy 2 year old feet and falling over the edge of the table. The back of my head met the concrete bench with a crack. I can still feel the tug of the needle and thread as the ER doctor stitched together the gaping, bloody hole on the back of my skull. No-one was aware of the long term injury that had just occurred.
At 5 years old, I was showing off my ability to ride an adult English bicycle.Failing to operate the unfamiliar hand brakes, I crashed into the curb. My pelvis met the sidewalk with a thud, and my sacroiliac joint became chronically misaligned. This injury began 50 years of abnormal low back and hip motion, muscular imbalance, and muscular weakness.

No-one was aware of the long term injury that had just occurred. This trauma was the beginning of a 50 year upper cervical spinal misalignment, a spinal injury that causes a lifetime of abnormal spinal joint motion, nerve and muscular imbalance, leg length inequality, and postural distortions.

As a young man, I was fascinated with the human body and athletic performance and seriously pursued an athletic career. Unbeknown to me, my upper cervical and pelvis misalignments kept me from finding my competitive edge. My core abdominal muscles and leg muscles were never not quite as strong or coordinated as I required, even with the most competitive training. My low back was constantly stiff and ached while I was polishing my motorcycle spokes. As a college student, I discovered how modern dance training helped relieve my low back stiffness and aching, and I was awarded a scholarship to study Dance Theatre at New York University School of the Arts (now Tisch School of the Arts).
While preparing for a summer horse trip on the Pacific Crest Trail, I was a snoozing passenger in the front seat of a microbus and was awakened when my ride went airborne above Donner Pass highway. My head was bashed into the bus ceiling as the vehicle landed on it's roof. My 21 year old artisticly trained brain was severely injured, my neck fractured, and lower body battered and bruised. My theatre career was over. I searched for ways to heal my brain, body and spirit, and struggled to retrain myself to move, read, reason, remember, and manage time. The muscles surrounding my injuries hardened. The tension in my neck and lower back became severe, and my body ached for longer and longer periods of time, particularly after physical activity. I realized my journey back to health would consume the rest of my days and declared my life purpose: the pursuit of health and spirituality.
At age 45, after 43 years of spinal misalignment from cracking my head open on a picnic table, 40 years from the time I injured my pelvis in the bike accident, and 24 years of pain from my motor vehicle accident, I attended chiropractic college. As a chiropractic student, I began an intensive chiropractic program of treatment, receiving adjustments up to 6 times per week. After months of discouraging clinical results, desperate to find relief from my pain, I committed to finding a solution to my physical problems even if it meant investigating all 250 chiropractic procedures. My persistence and dedication to exploring the many facets of chiropractic paid off, allowing me to discover some closely guarded, extraordinarily challenging chiropractic secrets for solving my complex health problems.
As a chiropractic extern I devoted myself to learning the scientific diagnosis and correction of the upper cervical spinal misalignment. I began to use these new skills to treat my patients at the Palmer Clinic in Davenport, Iowa. After working in the Clinic a few months, my patients began reporting miraculous recoveries. I had begun integrating unique procedures for pelvis and sacroiliac joint diagnostics and treatment with my upper cervical diagnostic and treatment protocols. My clinic supervising doctor confided with me that I was the only practitioner in the clinic with consistently excellent patient outcomes.
After graduating from Palmer College of Chiropractic, I opened Groover Clinic in Boulder, Colorado. Through the clinical practice of my upper cervical spinal diagnostic and treatment specialty with holistic healing procedures, my patients began experiencing inspiring Fibromyalgia recoveries, leading me to research and develop the Groover Clinic Holistic Fibromyalgia Treatment Program.
I have enjoyed tremendous success applying my unique holistic diagnostic and treatment perspectives to diverse conditions such as: migraine headaches, hypertension, dizziness, vertigo, athletic performance, injury prevention and treatment, unresolved neck, back, and hip pain, automobile accidents, and other personal injuries.
In 2004, I became a consultant to the University of Wyoming Department of Sports Medicine and a referral source for unresolved athletic injuries. I experience inspirational success returning injured athletes to full athletic participation in the face of surgery for what these athletes, their trainers, and their team doctors think are probably career ending conditions.
I have enjoyed volunteering at my local high school athletic programs, providing to these developing athletes massage therapy clinics, therapeutic yoga, strengthening and stretching instruction. I love providing high school, college and professional athletes corrective, preventive and performance health care to eliminate their pain, optimize their strength, power, balance, flexibility, coordination, focus and give them more energy.
