A 2009 study published in the Journal of Physical Activity and Health (4) showed that knee and hip arthritis is over 3 times more prevalent in retired NFL players than in the general U.S. population of the same age.
Groover Clinic Is Devoted to Help Prevent, Reduce or Reverse
Osteoarthritis Caused By Car Accidents!
Drs. Garstand and Stitik (5) indicate that there exists biomechanical factors in the development of osteoarthritis, including altered joint biomechanics, reduced motion, ligamentous laxity, malalignment, impaired proprioception, and muscle weakness. Groover Clinic emphasizes and specializes in the diagnosis and management of these problems.
Additionally, Dr. Kirkaldy-Willis (6) indicates that it is during the First Phase or Dysfunction Phase of spinal degeneration when most patients experience their first episode of back pain. Importantly, Dr. Kirkaldy-Willis indicates that the pathological changes during the First Phase are minor and potentially reversible. Dr. Kirkaldy-Willis suggests that spinal manipulation is a viable approach for the management of this first phase of spinal degeneration, noting:
"Manipulation is an art that requires much practice to acquire the necessary skill and competence. Few medical practitioners have the time or inclination to master it. This modality has much to offer to the patient with low back pain, especially in the earlier stages during the phase of dysfunction. The majority of patients are first seen while in this phase. Most practitioners of medicine, whether family physicians, or surgeons, will wish to refer their patients to a practitioner of manipulative therapy with whom they can cooperate, whose work they know, and whom they can trust. The physician who makes use of this resource will have many contented patients and save himself many headaches."

I was involved in a motor vehicle accident on 12/25/07. My vehicle was rear-ended while sitting at a stoplight, due to a heavy snowstorm...the other car could not stop. This created whiplash and spinal misalignment that caused pain, stiff muscles, knots in my neck, which Dr. Groover identified as torn ligaments. My lower back was "out" due to this vehicular collision, too.
I've been a Vedic Astrologer for 23 years, providing in depth readings covering a wide variety of areas to clients around the nation....I enjoy hiking, yoga, cooking, movies.

I had to stop hiking....it took many months before I could go for even small hikes again, plus had to stop yoga and my aerobic exercises. I saw a massage therapist, had cranial sacral work done, some Rolfing sessions, but mostly it was the sessions with Dr. Groover that restored my health and physical functioning.
Fortunately for me, I had been previously a patient of Dr. Groover's and had continued to see him, when and if maintenance was needed. It was very helpful to have the previous set of X-rays which provided a baseline before and after comparison.
Dr. Groover is extremely knowledgeable and thorough. His meticulous set of tests, including computerized range of motion and computerized strength tests, really showed how debilitated the accident had made me feel, whereas prior to that I was actively and avidly hiking every week. His comparison of the new set of X-rays with the previous set, also showed clearly the results of the torque on my neck and its new misalignment, subsequent to the car accident.
Now I feel wonderful! It took 11 months of treatment including acupuncture and neuromuscular therapies from Dr. Groover, as well as chiropractic corrections and adjustments to my spine and neck, to fully recover. I have been back to doing my full hikes on all the usual trails, since recovery, plus yoga classes, etc.
I feel blessed and fortunate to benefit from Dr. Groover's special care. He restored my spinal biomechanics to normal. I feel sure this has helped me to avoid the onset of arthritis in the damaged areas, which otherwise could have befallen me as my body ages, had the damage not been repaired so thoroughly.
I intend to recommend as many people as possible to Groover Clinic, whenever the opportunity arises. Dr. Groover is devoted to his work. His skillful attention to detail really helps many people recover, and that seems to give him great satisfaction. I feel Dr. Groover deserves to be acknowledged for the fine job he is doing providing lasting results for restored physical functioning for so many people.
I came to Groover Clinic September 2002 and a hard coller, using a long back support in my chair to help support my neck. I had a wheelchair in my jeep at all times that I would use to go into a store, or if needing to walk for more than a few minutes. My legs felt fine but the pain in my arms and neck was too much to stand for long. I was on five medications and used pain killers constantly. I could only be active (off the couch) for about 2-3 hours a day.
It's even hard for me to believe that Dr. Groover could make such a difference in my life. But I appreciate every day as I run, or walk the dogs, bike or skate. This is a change that I've been able to enjoy for over a year now.

Since the accident, January 1998, I had seen chiropractors, physical therapists, massage therapists, acupuncturists, and undergone pain relief procedures with pain and rehabilitation physicians. It was suggested that my only permanent relief would be from surgery. Thank goodness I didn't do it!
After undergoing knee x-rays, Dr. Groover spent a lot of time making the proper adjustment. He checked it with post x-rays and sent me on my way, to return the next week. I came back with my full pain apparatus on but he checked my alignment, and said I was still holding. I was in shock, still feeling trapped in the pain of four years, but drove home without the caller. My neck didn't hurt.
The next day I walked 4 miles!
Dr. Groover guided my recovery with exercises and adjustments as necessary. I tended to lose my alignment times over the next six months. I had a lot of muscles to retrain in order to hold my alignment area
Since March of 2003, I have needed only a few adjustments and enjoy a full active life.
I have had many health issues occur that I now feel I may have been able to avoid that I found you sooner area and I never realized exactly how uncomfortable I was until the day that you did my treatment and I felt my body finally relaxed.
I want to thank you for restoring my health with chiropractic care from your office. I have experienced many health care professionals in my time and you surpass many. Admittedly I was a bit apprehensive about starting the treatment and I appreciate your underlying concern to every patient's individual needs and desires.
After the trauma of an automobile accident 11 years ago, I have had many health issues occur that I now feel I may have been able to avoid that I found you sooner area and I never realized exactly how uncomfortable I was until the day that you did my treatment and I felt my body finally relaxed. Now, six weeks later I feel even better and I feel that my progress shows every day. Not only do I feel so great, but I have had great success with my dental care (correcting my temporomandibular joint dysfunction) with my dentist as well.
Thank you again for such a wonderful gift. I truly appreciate your knowledge and gentle touch and I am more than happy to share my experience with any of your patients that are considering treatment. Your high level of training and education certainly show and is valued.
